Low Rise, Mid Rise, High Rise

Low Rise, Mid Rise, High Rise (LRMRHR) is a publication documenting a temporary exhibition that ran from June 19 to July 31, 2021 at Helms Bakery District in Los Angeles. It was a showcase of work from over 30 design teams for new housing in Los Angeles at four distinct scales and levels of density: ADU's, low-rise multifamily dwellings up to four stories, mid rise affordable and market rate housing sited on or near transit corridors, and high-rise towers in business centers. Herwig Baumgartner Architects exhibited two projects here, both their Venice Triplex and the Beverlywood TOC Development.

Both the show and this publication were organized and curated by Frances Anderton and Stephen Phillips, FAIA.

The California Style, Architecture on the Edge in Paradise

HBA is featured in the new book by Francesc Zamora Mola.

"California is an incubator for technological, multi-cultural, ecological thought, and a love for the outdoors. It should be no surprise then to see that California architecture embodies these influences in home design. The homes presented in this book demonstrate the rich cultural synthesis found in California and that the influence of the North American continent upon American architecture continues." - Robert Nebolon, Architect AIA
