Gallery Remodel for Chromasonic Field
Chromasonic Field – Fine Art Gallery Remodel
Arts District, Downtown Los Angeles
Baumgartner Architects transformed a 14,000-square-foot warehouse in the Arts District into a refined, purpose-built gallery for Chromasonic Inc., designed to house Chromasonic Field, an immersive light-and-sound installation by artist Johannes Girardoni. The remodel reimagines the industrial shell as a highly controlled sensory environment, integrating new structural, acoustic, and lighting systems to support the precision and subtlety of Girardoni’s work. Strategic spatial planning, custom detailing, and advanced material strategies enable a seamless transition from the urban exterior into a fully enveloping interior experience. The result is a flexible, high-performance exhibition space that elevates the installation while establishing a new cultural destination within Downtown Los Angeles.
