Satellite One
Satellite One – Venice Beach, California
Satellite One is a mobile immersive vessel developed as part of the Chromasonic project, created in close collaboration between architect Herwig Baumgartner and artist Johannes Girardoni, who composed the light and sound environment. Conceived as a transformative architectural and sensory experience, the project amplifies physical, mental, and emotional perception through a fully enveloping interior that dissolves traditional spatial boundaries.
Leveraging advanced design technologies, automation, and augmented-reality-assisted workflows, Baumgartner Architects crafted a seamless, edge-less environment that defies scale and delivers complete immersion. It pushed fabrication and installation into new territory, establishing a new benchmark for mobile, technology-driven architectural environments.
Since its debut, Satellite One has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors, inspiring new applications in wellness, mindfulness, and mental health, and shaping emerging conversations on how architecture can intersect with neuroscience and human well-being.
